D- and A-Optimal Screening Designs

چکیده

In practice, optimal screening designs for arbitrary run sizes are traditionally generated using the D-criterion with factor settings fixed at ±1, even when considering continuous factors levels in [−1,1]. This article identifies cases of undesirable estimation variance properties such D-optimal and argues that generally A-optimal tend to push variances closer their minimum possible value. New insights about behavior criteria gained through a study respective coordinate-exchange formulas. The confirms existence comprised only ±1 both main effect interaction models blocked unblocked experiments. Scenarios also identified which manipulation coordinate between [−1,1] leads infinitely many each having different properties. For same conditions, A-criterion is shown have unique value improvement. We compare how Bayesian versions A- D-criteria balance minimization bias. Multiple examples considered various under non-Bayesian D-criteria.

Optimal Screening Designs with Flexible Cost Structures

We describe results from an algorithm for optimizing a decision-theoretic approach to the design of screening trials, where the goal is to identify promising candidates for future study. Using a highly flexible cost structure, the algorithm can optimize a variety of decision and experimental costs. The designs produced can range from a single stage through to fully sequential, depending on the ...

Optimal Screening Designs with Flexible Cost and Constraint Structures

We describe a costand constraint-based decision-theoretic approach to the design of screening trials, where the goal is to identify promising candidates for future study. An algorithmic method for optimizing this approach is presented. This method utilizes a highly flexible structure to reflect a variety of decision and experimental costs and constraints. The designs produced can range from bei...

Selection and Screening Procedures to Determine Optimal Product Designs

To compare several promising product designs, manufacturers must measure their performance under multiple environmental conditions. In many applications, a product design is considered to be seriously flawed if its performance is poor under any level of the environmental factor. For example, if a particular automobile battery design does not function well under some temperature conditions, then...

Some Optimal Codes From Designs

The binary and ternary codes spanned by the rows of the point by block incidence matrices of some 2-designs and their complementary and orthogonal designs are studied. A new method is also introduced to study optimal codes.

Optimal screening for promising genes in 2-stage designs.

Detecting genetic markers with biologically relevant effects remains a challenge due to multiple testing. Standard analysis methods focus on evidence against the null and protect primarily the type I error. On the other hand, the worthwhile alternative is specified for power calculations at the design stage. The balanced test as proposed by Moerkerke and others (2006) and Moerkerke and Goetgheb...
